Gooood morning everybody! There are definitely no Monday blues over here today, but instead a happy punch of yellow to start off the week! I mean, how adorable is this yellow polka dot romper? It makes me think of the lyrics “it was an itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot romper
bikini.” Hmm…Instagram caption idea?
I wore this outfit about two weekends ago when I was home for Father’s Day. We actually didn’t go anywhere except when Jeff and I went to take these photos at Capitol Lake in Olympia (we are more of a feast-at-home kind of family). I was born and raised in this small town, which is actually the capital of Washington (most people think it’s Seattle)! Olympia has grown so much in the last several years – we have developments popping up everywhere and there’s even an H&M at our mall now (still waiting on Nordstrom to come through!). Of all of the places that I used to frequent back in the day, this lake was always one of my favorite places to visit. The view is beautiful and you can also see the Capitol building (where I also love going for blog photos like here and here).
Anywho, I seriously can’t get over how cute this yellow polka dot romper is. I love the playful tie detail at the waist and the split fluttering sleeves. And the polka dot print itself is just so darling! I’m also all for a stretchy and comfortable waistband. For reference, I’m wearing a size Small in this polka dot romper. Although it fit well, it’s pretty short even on my petite 5’4″ frame. As you can see, the length of the romper is shorter than where my arms are dangled on the sides. So if you’re taller than 5’4″, I would recommend sizing up in hopes that the romper is longer. If you’re also between sizes 2 and 4, I would recommend sizing up since it runs slightly small – I think I could’ve gone with a Medium for a looser and comfortable fit.
Lastly, if you’re not sure if yellow is your color (read my tips for wearing yellow), this romper also comes in a cream color with a black striped print. I love the flattering diagonal and vertical stripes on that one. And yes, both are only $49!
